Our History in Content Management

Alterian Content Manager has a long pedigree of providing content management solutions to some of the world's leading brands, including WWE, Jaguar Land Rover, Thomson Reuters and AstraZeneca. We have thousands of subject matter experts now owning, managing and publishing content every day, without the hassle of having to wait in line for IT assistance to get content on the web site.

Product sub sites, campaign pages and even emergency response micro sites have been launched in minutes, lending an unheard of agility to corporations, business and agencies who all rely on the digital channel as an outlet for information to their customers and clients.

But how did we get here...?

In 1995, when the online world was still in its infancy, Mediasurface was formed.  It was set up with the aim of developing user-friendly software to allow non-technical individuals to manage content on the rapidly growing World Wide Web.  By enabling the business user to own and publish their content, the IT departments who had traditionally been owners of any online presence were freed from the burden of day to day admin and maintenance.

Morello cherry logoThrough the late 90's to being aquired by Alterian in 2008, Mediasurface was a significant name within the content management marketplace.  Its flagship CMS product, Morello, was recognized by global technology analysts as a leading enterprise level WCM product across many sectors and geographies.

Gartner even went so far as to call it a "work of art".

Not content with powering some of the most complex and large-scale content management private sector projects ever seen, Morello also  enjoyed the enviable position of becoming the "de facto" choice for the UK central Government sector, with most of the largest agencies and departments recognizing the strength of our software as the only way to meet centrally-mandated standards for online presence and citizen information standards, often displacing incumbent CMS vendors who had been unable to offer anywhere near the same levels of agility and scalability to a non-technical user base, let alone the fast ROI and value for money the public sector demands.

Morello is now Content Manager Enterprise Edition

immediacy2In 2007, Mediasurface made a strategic acquisition of the rapidly growing content management vendor Immediacy, in order to expand their reach into the mid-tier sector.  Immediacy's strength in local Government was the perfect complement to Mediasurface's existing wide reach in central Government and acted as a bridge between the two.  Immediacy specialized in providing quickly implemented, affordable WCM technology to a wide range of end users like the BBC, AVIS and BP.

Around the same time, Alterian began the process of seeking out a specialist WCM company in order to round out their existing Platform and extend their vision of analytics and multi-channel execution to include the use of content as the third pillar of a successful marketing strategy.  Mediasurface was the only real option given their expertise and single focus in providing a usable, intuitive solution and putting day to day content management in the hands of the business and marketing user and the acquisition was concluded in the summer of 2008, whereupon Morello and Immediacy were integrated into Alterian and renamed under the Content Manager banner.

Immediacy is now Content Manager Corporate Edition
